My trash cans have been stolen 3 times in 5 weeks.

I'd put out my trash for pickup in the morning and the trash can would be gone when I returned home from the office. These were not windy days and all other neighborhood empty trash cans were in place, only mine was missing.

I was able to obtain video of the third theft on 10-26-2004 and it was turned over to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department and a theft report was taken again. It was an E&M Disposal trash truck. I believed the thefts were related to the ongoing harassment campaign against me.

The video showed that my trash company emptied my can around noon.

Later an E&M Disposal trash truck arrived on my street with a lone driver. The E&M Disposal driver stopped at my neighbors house and emptied their cans, then proceeded to stop in front of my house. The E&M Disposal driver got out of the truck, hesitated a bit (waiting for all cars to get out of sight) and then picked up my empty trash can and threw it into the back of his truck and then he quickly drove away out of my neighborhood. My neighbors are the ONLY E&M Disposal customers on my street.

The police officer took my report and then visited with my neighbors and obtained the name of their trash collection company -- E&M Disposal.

And now, DAYS AFTER THE THEFT, nothing has been accomplished by the police department. When I asked about their progress, I was told they were having trouble reaching the E&M Disposal driver who drove the truck that day after many phone calls to the trash collection company. Of course they deny it and claim ignorance of the thefts...

What else do the police need to prosecute a crime?

I gave the police the video of the theft, they know it was an E&M Disposal truck driver. Yet, no one has been charged with theft and as best as they will tell me, all they've done in DAYS is make a few phone calls to E&M Disposal and are having trouble reaching the driver. It sounds logical that the driver is making himself hard to reach. What more could the police need to take action?

A Jefferson County Sheriff's Department Captain has placed the blame on ME for all the harassment that has been committed againt me and my property!

The police officer who took the original theft report on October 26th, 2004 stopped at my home on the morning of December 25th, 2004 to give me status on his "failure" to talk to the driver of the E&M Disposal truck who stole my trash can. Yes, you read it right, it was Christmas Day. He told me he also stopped to talk to Woody747 before he arrived at my home. Providing status on Christmas morning was another form of punishment by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department. This was just petty on the part of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department. I expected better...

Meanwhile, the E&M Disposal trash truck has not been seen... A small blue pickup truck now comes to empty the Mercers trash. The drivers empty their trash cans into the bed of the pickup truck and then drive away... E&M Disposal seems to be laying low ... another sign of their guilt.

I know a stolen $10 trash can (x 3) is not a major crime, but when taken in context of all the harassment against me and my property, it shows a larger crime and should be investigated and prosecuted. But the police have done close to nothing in DAYS, even with a video showing the crime taking place. In my opinion, the police ARE doing nothing and have no intention of doing anything. And the police have blamed me, the victim for the harassment...

days and counting ...
