The screaming was intense, beyond belief loud.

I tried to ignore it; I had to turn the TV in my living room louder so my guest and I could hear it with my patio sliding glass door open. Right after she left, I went back to my bedroom and heard something hitting my house.

I turned on my security camera and saw 6+ children sitting on the trampoline, facing my house, cupping their hands like megaphones and screaming in unison.

They started throwing rocks at my house. I saw Jeff's oldest twice get handfuls of their gravel and throw it at my house. Some of the older boys (Dennis the Menace) were throwing something larger, which I could hear strike my roof and house. One of them threw over some toy which struck my house (Jeff later retrieved this toy using a rake over the fence).

I turned on my VCR and captured the remaining vandalism on tape. Things were escalating and I was becoming quite concerned.

Do they have any idea what their children are doing in the playground? I guess not, it's "out of their way".

I called the Mercers home,
and there was no answer...

Their Children and Guests Were Unsupervised and Out of Control: To avoid any personal interaction with the children or the Mercers in this tense situation, I called the police and stayed inside my home to wait for them.

Some events are so predictable. Put a number of children together without any adult supervision, let them all know how unhappy the parents are with me, put them only 8' from my house and have lots of rocks around. Since the playground is "out of their way", how could they know what is going on?

This vandalism incident should have been easy to predict by the parents and prevented. I do not believe the Mercers told or guided their children and guests to stone my house, I do believe smarter playground placement and better parenting could have and should have prevented it in the first place.

It only took a little over a year before
my house was Stoned Again.
