I'm warning you ...

The screaming and shrieking from the neighbor's playground is INTENSE.

I open my back sliding door and shouted from the doorway "do you guys ever shut up?". It gets quiet for a few moments anyway.

The phone rings, it's Jeff. Before he can say much, I asked him if he is calling to re-instate the mediated agreement. He says no, I then tell him that we have nothing to talk about and ended the phone call.

Jeff calls again, he yells   "I'm warning you...".

I don't want phone calls like this. I informed him that if he calls back again, I will have him charged with phone harassment, and ended the phone call.

Jeff calls the police. The officer went to talk to the Mercers first and then came over here. He asked for my story and I gave it to him. He says he will try and get them to honor the agreement again, and I said that if he can do that, I'd put the camera shield back up tomorrow morning! He sounded hopeful.

He came back without good news. Now the Mercers want 8pm as the limit, a full 1.5 hours past the original agreement, 1 full hour past last years agreement, and even 30 minutes past what they were asking for a few weeks ago. Bastards.

The officer suggested I tape record some of the screaming. I did better than that... I measured the Sound Pressure Level using the exact procedures in the Jefferson County: 5.90 Noise Abatement law at 66db(A). This is 11db over the daytime limit and 16db over the after 7pm limit. But... and there is always a but, the Jefferson County Sheriff has refused to enforce the noise abatement law and the Jefferson County District Attorney has refused to prosecute for these noise violations ???

UPDATE: Friday, July 2nd, 2004

The sound coming from the playground is measured at illegal levels.
